These were some of the questions that were on our online survey
From the results of our survey, we found that 72% of school students think that there is a big difference in cultures between their past and current schools

On another survey question that was about mental health, we found that most students would rank their mental health in the range of 6-10 (1 being good and 10 being bad)
As part of our mission to understand and support migrant mental health, we conduct in-depth interviews with immigrant students from diverse backgrounds. Their stories shed light on the emotional challenges of adapting to a new culture, coping with language barriers, and finding a sense of belonging. These firsthand experiences help us develop research-backed resources that truly address their needs, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.
Empowering immigrants through shared mental health experiences
At Chat4Change, we provide a safe online space for immigrants to openly discuss their mental health challenges and connect with others facing similar struggles. Our platform aims to offer support, understanding, and a sense of community for those who often feel unheard or overlooked.

Our Vision
To create a nurturing environment where immigrants find solace and solidarity in their mental health journeys.
To make students' voices heard
To help address the toll of migration on students
Our Research
Immigration presents unique mental health challenges, especially for students navigating new environments. Our research delves into key stressors such as racial discrimination, language barriers, and the difficulties of switching schools, examining their impact on mental well-being. To gain deeper insight, we conducted interviews and a social media survey, gathering firsthand experiences from immigrants. Each team member focused on a specific topic, analyzing how these factors affect individuals' mental health and overall adjustment. Through this study, we aim to raise awareness, advocate for better support systems, and highlight the resilience of immigrant communities.

Sanjika R.A.K
I migrated a lot inside India, a country known for its diversity. I faced many arbitrary barriers during my childhood. Thus, I've decided to make it my mission to help others who are facing the same struggles.

Advay Anoop Krishnan
When I talk with people, they would sometimes start talking in a language that I couldn't understand. It was honestly frustrating and this actually motivated me to take up this issue.

Siddharth Suman
I am a student who has changed about 10 schools. I joined this project because I felt like this was meant for me. I wanted to shed light on this issue and inform people like me that they aren't alone.
